Meet Glove Genie: A Knitting Web App Made for Makers

For years, I searched for a tool that didn’t exist. As a knitter and designer who has published in international knitting magazines and sold my own patterns, I wanted something simple: a way to create custom glove knitting patterns without spreadsheets, endless recalculations, or hopping between software.

Every glove design started with the same struggle — the math. How many stitches? How much ease? How to adapt the pattern for a new yarn or hand size? Instead of knitting, I was buried in numbers. What I wanted was a tool that could take care of all that, so I could focus on what I love: the craft, the creativity, the stitches themselves.

That wish became Glove Genie.

Glove Genie is a web app for knitters that generates accurate, ready-to-use glove patterns in just a few clicks. Enter your yarn, gauge, and fit preferences, and the app does the calculations for you. No guesswork, no frogging — just a clean, reliable pattern you can knit or even adapt for digital sales.

But Glove Genie is more than just a convenience. It’s about keeping the joy of hand craft alive, especially for younger generations. In a world where screens are designed to capture attention, I believe in giving children and young people the chance to learn real, creative skills that build patience, pride, and confidence. Knitting is tactile, social, and deeply rewarding — and with tools like Glove Genie, the barriers to starting are lower than ever.
